U Can’t Go to China

When we found out we were going to live in China for two years we got many different responses….

“You can’t go to China because South Korea and North Korea are at war”

“You can’t go to China because the Chinese government limits your time on the internet”

“You can’t go to China because there isn’t a LDS temple there”

and my personal favorite….

“You can’t go to China because they don’t have tampons over there!”

There are a lot of questions we get like “When will you go?” and “Will you have to home-school the kids?” and “Will you sleep in a bed?” or “What will you do with your house?” Hopefully by blogging our way through China we’ll be able to answer all the unknown questions and even learn some cultural challenges and surprises along the way.

You’ll be glad to know that I’m not going to home-school the kids in Chinese.  The kids will go to an International school.

We haven’t picked one yet and believe it or not there are more than one International school in Chengdu, the Capitol of the Sichuan Province in  China. One thing we know for sure is no matter which school we choose we know the kids will have the opportunity to meet kids their ages from all over the world and hopefully make some friends with locals there too.

Our house will be taken care of by a Property Managment Company and everything else we won’t take with us will be put in storage or sold or given to a charity drive.

We are planning a trip to visit our family in Utah and Arizona before we leave and saying goodbye to everyone and everything we love will be a hard experience.

Even though we will be living on the other side of the world we will be together as a family.  We will miss everything and everyone but we are positive this will be an experience we will never forget.

So glad to hear you made it there safe. I was laughing so hard about the supermarket experience. I bet your family was so happy that you made cookies. Tell me, do you have to learn the metric system all over again and mearsure your ingredients for cooking in grams and ml? There are great websites on the web for conversions.
    Miss all of you…
